Mara Ellis, photography portfolio
A dark, image-first portfolio for photographers, designers and studios.

Context
Mara Ellis is a fictional photographer. The photos come from Unsplash and are credited on every page. The business is fictional: names, prices, reviews and figures are demo content. The code is complete and deployable.
The challenge
Give the images all the room while keeping the site light, and easy to update for someone who isn’t a developer.
What I did
- A project index with a live preview: hovering or focusing a title changes the large image.
- Project pages that mix full-width and half-width images.
- A full-screen lightbox, driven with the arrow keys, Esc to close.
- One project = one Markdown file and one folder of images.
- WebP versions of every photo generated when the site is built.
Outcome
A static Astro site with a single font and almost no JavaScript.
