Northbound, magazine and blog
A magazine theme built for reading, with an RSS feed, a sitemap and generated sharing images.

Context
Northbound is a fictional travel magazine. Articles, writers and quotes are written for the demo; photos come from Unsplash. The business is fictional: names, prices, reviews and figures are demo content. The code is complete and deployable.
The challenge
Make people want to keep reading, and make sure every article is easy to find and to share.
What I did
- A magazine front page: lead story, latest stories, an index by section.
- Article pages built for reading: serif text at a comfortable measure, drop cap, pull quotes, breakout photos, author box.
- Sections with their own pages and a validated newsletter sign-up.
- RSS feed, sitemap, canonical URLs and Open Graph images generated from each article’s cover.
Outcome
A static Astro site: one article = one Markdown file. Self-hosted fonts, WebP images, almost no JavaScript.
